Hello everybody! My name is Fabrizio, I'm fifty, married twice, have two kids, I happily own Thalie, a 1974 Dufour 27. Trying to improve her in order to sail singlehanded, looking for tips from other owners. Looking to hear from you all, many thanks! Fabrizio

Ciao Fabrizio, I've been single handing my Dufour for decades and have made a few suggestions on other posts but would add that I installed a small hook with bungee cord on the boom to stow my furled reefing lines and that has made life more pleasant especially if you sail where frequent reefing is called for. I also installed larger blocks on the main sheet to make it easier to trim in strong winds and some or those aftermarket rubber rings that are installed on the tops of your primary winches so they can be used almost as self tailing can be quite useful. Good luck and have fun, Larryr

Hallo, Larryr and sorry for the delay. Thanks for the answer and for the tips (winch cap, lazy jack). Two more questions, please: first, where can I find your other singlehandling suggestios? Second, what's your opininon about electric autohelm? Thanks a lot! Bye

Hello Fabrizio, I haven't posted any other single handed sailing suggestions that I remember, just those on this board. I have used an Autohelm and it's terrific and I think essential for safe single handing especially when you need to reef. Also on longer passages it will hold a course while you prepare food or drink or just relax. The small spray dodger that covers the companionway is also a well worth investment, althought the 27 is a very dry boat the dodger helps prevent unwanted drenching and helps the cabin keep well ventilated. I installed an OPTIMA non pressure alchohol stove has also been a vast inmprovement over the original stove that came with the boat, it really works well. Happy to answer any other questions, they are great little boats. Cheers, Larry R.
